Mercado de la Cebada
A working market under a wave of green roofs, with bars wedged between the fish counters.
La Cebada is not a restored market. It is a 1950s hall with a concrete-shell roof that still mostly does what it was built for — fishmongers, butchers, a man who only sells olives — and has picked up a handful of bars along the way, which is a different and better thing than a food court.
Saturday is the day. Go late morning, eat standing at whichever counter has a queue of people who clearly came to shop, and then walk thirty seconds to Cava Baja and keep going.
