Chueca after work
The historic centre of queer Madrid, busy most nights, and the easiest place in the city to go out alone.
Chueca has been the centre of Madrid's LGBTQ+ life since the 1980s and it still is, which in practice means a dense grid of small bars that are busy on a Tuesday, a square with terraces on all four sides, and a neighbourhood that is noticeably easy to arrive at on your own.
The first weekend of July the whole district disappears under one of the largest Pride events in Europe. The other fifty-one weeks it is simply the most reliable place in central Madrid to find somewhere open and full.
