A terrace apartment near Campo de' Fiori
Sample entry: a roof terrace with pots on it, four flights up, no lift.
A demonstration entry. The Roman roof terrace is a real institution — a few square metres of tiles, a lemon tree in a pot, a washing line, and a view over the neighbours' identical terraces — and it changes a trip more than an extra star on a hotel does.
The honest caveats for any of them: it is almost always several flights of stairs, it is unusable in the middle of an August afternoon, and a market square outside means you are woken at six by the stalls being set up.
