Mercado de Motores
A monthly vintage and design market held among the locomotives in Madrid's old railway museum.
Once a month the Museo del Ferrocarril — a nineteenth-century station full of preserved steam engines — fills up with independent makers, vintage dealers, records and food stalls. The setting does most of the work, and the setting is genuinely spectacular.
It runs on one weekend a month rather than weekly, so check the dates before building a day around it. Go early on the Saturday if you intend to buy anything; by the afternoon it is a crowd with live music in it.
